Welcome to Safeway Driving School!
- At our driving school we make learning to drive safe and easy.
- Vehicles are equipped with dual gas and brake pedals (for instructor use).
- State Licensed instructors are available 7 days a week.
- Clients may request female or male instructors.
PRE-PERMIT STAGE & ONLINE EDUCATION
The DMV requires that minors take Driver Education to be eligible to take the permit test: READ MORE >
- DMV approved education course
- On-line education program – a basic format that is easily understood
- No classroom attendance required
- Focused on teen driver safety
- Teens work at their own pace, anytime using a laptop, tablet or smart phone
- 10 sections with a quiz at the end of each section
- Final exam to prepare student for DMV written exam
- Once registered you will be able to login at our website using your unique password and email
- Upon completion a DL-400C will be created for you to provide to the DMV
PERMIT
To obtain a minors permit the DMV requires the following: READ MORE >
- You must be at least 15 ½ but under 18 years of age
- Complete the DMV application online on the DMV website or in the DMV field office
- Parent(s) or guardian(s) must sign the DL 44
- Present an original birth certificate or passport or a proof of legal status
- A social security card
- A certificate of completion of driver education DL400B or DL400C
- $36 DMV application fee
- Must provide proof of residency – 2 forms of proof required
- Pass the knowledge test (46 questions). If you fail, you must wait 7 days to retest
- Hold your permit for a minimum of 6 months before you apply for a license
- Your permit is not valid until you have your first lesson with an instructor
BEHIND THE WHEEL DRIVER TRAINING
The DMV requires minors to complete the following prior to applying for a driver license: READ MORE >
License Requirements
- Complete 6 hours of professional driver training (3- 2 hour lessons)
- Complete 50 hours of supervised driving practice, 10 of which must be at night
- You must be at least 16 years of age
- Have held your instruction permit for at least 6 months
- Provide the Certificate of Completion Driver Training DL400D
- Provide a parent or guardian signature on your instruction permit
- Provide valid vehicle registration
- Provide valid vehicle liability insurance document
- Pass the behind-the-wheel driving test (if you fail you must wait 2 weeks to retest)
